Across 98 MLS matches from 2007 to 2012, the former Real Madrid superstar scored 18 goals and added38 assists for the Galaxy. His trademark move to MLS – nearly 20 years ago – after crafting a remarkable career in Europe paved way for people like Lionel Messi to join the league.
Now, exactly 12 years after he left the Galaxy, he has returned to his former club, but this time sporting an Inter Miami pin on his suit instead of the LA crest.
His presence may have been what ended up earning his side a point too, as Lionel Messi scored a brilliant stoppage-time equalizer to earn the Herons a point.
